On24February2011,itwasannouncedbyBBCDramaControllerBenStephensonthatAccusedhasbeenrenewedforasecondseriesoffourepisodes,tobebroadcastsometimein2012.Despitetherelativelylowviewingfiguresfromthefirstseries,thesecondwascommissionedinthehopesthatitwouldhavethepotentialtofindabroaderaudience.
Thefirstepisodeofseries2wasairedonthe14thofAugust2012,followingalargeadvertisingcampaign.Thefinalepisodeoftheseriesincludedadifferentconcepttoanypreviousintheshow'shistorytodate:althoughnonearetheleadcharacter,fourcharacters(Jake,Stephen,Stephen'sfatherandthejudge)frompreviousepisodesappearandaresignificanttowardsthestory.
